All children from Reception to Year 6 are taught by specialist PE teachers. Sport plays a very important role at the Prep School. Our aim is to develop and challenge each and every pupil and for them to represent the school and play in fixtures in Key Stage 2.

Extra Curricular Activities also include: Sports Club (Variety of sports and games for Reception, KS1 & KS2), Tennis, Street Dance, Ballet, Girls’ Football, Dodgeball, Ball skills and games, Karate, Yoga and Mindfulness.
Key Stage 1
In Reception the pupils will play games and activities which will focus on the development of spatial awareness, ball skills and fair play. The pupils will also take part in Gymnastics, Dance and Fun Fitness. The aim of these activities is to extend their range of movement, imagination, balance and control, together with developing fitness levels. In the summer term, the children will play striking and fielding games, learning simple rules and developing their hand/eye coordination. They will also prepare for sports day by learning mini athletics events.
As the children move into Years 1 and 2 they will build upon the skills they have experienced in Reception. They will also learn new football, netball, hockey, athletics and cricket skills. A greater emphasis will be placed on teamwork and developing these skills through playing small sided invasion games.
Key Stage 2
Building upon the fundamental skills learned in Key Stage 1, our children will develop these into match play situations in our major sports. Throughout the year, depending on the season, the boys will play competitive matches from Year 3 in Football, Hockey, Athletics and Cricket. The girls from Year 3 upwards will play Hockey, Netball, Athletics and Cricket. Both boys and girls will also have the opportunity to compete in district, interschool and regional cross country events.
We are able to offer excellent training within the curriculum, an extensive fixture programme for our pupils and our children have access to our superb playing facilities on both our Prep and Senior School sites.
Where appropriate we will provide opportunities for gifted and talented sportsmen and women and offer scholarships to promote this. We also provide links and opportunities for player pathways and to play in regional representative teams.
The Prep School has enjoyed success over a number of years across all sports in Regional and National tournaments and events. However, what is most important, is that every pupil has the opportunity to represent the School and that our pupils lead active lives, work well in teams, are happy, healthy and will enjoy sport for the rest of their lives.
We also encourage families from our school and our opposition to come along and support the pupils playing in the fixtures and share a match tea afterwards.
