Choosing the right school for your child is a very important decision. We want to make this as simple as possible. This section of our website has been carefully planned to guide you through our admissions process, from your initial enquiry through to your child settling in with us.

We welcome applications at many entry points across the Prep and Senior Schools, from age two in our Nursery right up to 16+ entry in our Sixth Form. However, we are happy to welcome children into any year group throughout the academic year, subject to available spaces.

Choose the school stage you're considering for your child and follow the steps to joining us.

  • Visit Us

You can get a great insight into Nursery life from attending one of our open days, events or personal tours. We are enthusiastic about our School and feel privileged to be able to open our doors to you. We will show you our fantastic Nursery setting, introduce you to staff and answer any questions you may have about joining us.

  • Register

Children may join our Nursery at any point in the term after they turn two years old. It is never too early to apply for a place, we do not hold formal assessments and places are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have already visited us and are considering Lingfield as a possible setting for your child, please complete our online registration form.

  • Place Offered

Following a successful personal visit or event, a formal offer of a place will be made within a week and settling in sessions will be scheduled. Offers are made in order of registration and siblings of Prep School pupils are given priority.

  • Getting Your Family Ready

Once you have formally accepted your child’s place, we will send out our new starter welcome pack with all the information you need for starting at Lingfield Nursery. We will ask you about your child’s favourite things, their feeding and sleep routines, their general health and development, and also address any worries you might have.

  • Settling In

We will go above and beyond to ensure your child is happy and content with us. In the month before your child joins us, we will arrange a short series of ‘settling in sessions’ to get them used to the Nursery environment and to help them start to make new friends. We tailor this process to your child, offering as many sessions as they (and you) need to feel part of our lovely Nursery.

  • Visit Us

You can get a taste of Prep School life from one of our open days, events or personal tours. We are enthusiastic about our School and feel privileged to be able to open our doors to you. We will show you around our fantastic Prep School, introduce you to staff and answer any questions you may have about joining us.

  • Register

After your visit, if you are considering Lingfield Prep as a possible choice for your child, we encourage you to register with us using the form below. If possible, we recommend that you register your child at least one year before their proposed start date. By registering with us, you are officially expressing an interest in Lingfield College; it does not commit you to accept a place, nor does it commit the School to offer one.

  • Finding Out More

We will request information from your child's current school to establish their academic aptitude, behaviour and abilities. Together with our assessment, this gives us a holistic view of your child and allows us to understand how to best support their needs, talents and personality.

  • Taster/Assessment Days

We do not formally assess Reception children. Instead, your child will be invited to school to meet their teacher and explore the class setting, usually in the Summer term. For Year 1 to Year 6, your child will visit the Prep, usually in the Spring term, for an informal taster/assessment day. This gives us all a chance to get to know each other. Children will spend some time in the classroom, meeting potential new friends and an experienced teacher. They will participate in some fun and creative lessons such as PE, Drama and Music. Alongside this, we will guide them through some literacy and numeracy tasks.

  • Scholarships, Awards & Bursaries

At Lingfield College, we recognise and celebrate achievement in all areas. We are proud to offer a Scholarship programme for entry into Years 4, 5, 7, 9 and 12 for children with exceptional skills and talents. Scholarshop application for the Prep School usually takes place in the Spring term.

  • Place Offered

A place is offered in writing as soon as possible after a successful assessment/taster day. Parents will be asked to confirm acceptance by returning the necessary forms and submitting a deposit.

  • Getting You Ready

Once you have accepted your place (or in the term before you start), we will send out our new starter welcome pack with all the information you need for starting at Lingfield Prep, including timings for the school day, uniform requirements, methods for sharing your child’s progress and information about clubs and co-curricular activities.

  • Settling In

For all pupils, we organise an induction session at the end of the Summer term before they start. For anyone starting during an academic year, we run a successful buddy scheme in the Prep School. We always keep a close eye on new pupils to help smooth their transition and do everything we can to give them a happy start with us.

Our Sixth Form taster days typically take place over several dates in the November or December of the year before entry. These days offer students the opportunity to experience lessons in their preferred subjects and to further explore the Sixth Form and wider school setting. During this visit, they will be interviewed by our Head of Sixth Form and complete an assessment to determine their suitability for the courses.

  • Place Offered

Before formally being offered a place, we will request Year 11 reports and predicted grades from your child's current school to indicate their academic aptitude, behaviour and abilities.
