Prep School Learning
Children are academically challenged through an innovative curriculum delivered by dedicated and engaging class teachers and subject specialists in Languages, Music, Sports and Creative Arts. Bright, modern, spacious classrooms provide a stimulating environment that maximises learning. Furthermore, pupils have access to a dedicated Computer suites, Science lab, Art and drama studios. On extensive and beautiful grounds in the Surrey countryside, pupils have the space to be themselves, and they make full use of our orchards, playing fields and wildlife areas.
The learning here extends far beyond the classroom, with our subjects brought to life by trips and excursions, a wide range of sporting opportunities and a thriving co-curricular programme and house system.

A day in the life at Lingfield Prep
- 7.30am
Breakfast - The children are welcomed with a selection of cereals and hot food to fuel them throughout the day. There are also opportunities to do some mindful colouring and play games to ease them into a day filled with activities.
- 8.00am
Pupils can take part in a variety of clubs before the school day starts, including Harp Attack, Samba, and Yoga.
- 8.30am
Teaching staff welcome the children and help them settle in preparation for the day ahead. They take part in quick burst activities which are mentally stimulating, and fill in their reflection journals to assess how their week is going.
- 9.00am
Morning lessons begin. English lessons enable our students to hold a firm grasp of the English language, as they discuss vocabulary and grammar.
- 9.55am
Assembly - Once a week, the children meet to celebrate hard work and achievement with the Star of the Week Assembly. On other days, they learn about their house charities, or what’s going on in the world to promote discussion. Each year group also has the chance to show their musical skills in an instrumental assembly once a term. Fridays are reserved for class assemblies, when parents are invited to watch and listen to the learning journeys of their children.
- 10.10am
Children enjoy an active and social breaktime playing with friends, getting some fresh air and a run around. Some also enjoy a healthy fruit or vegetable snack.
- 12.10pm
A balanced and nutritious lunch is served in the Prep School Dining Room. Children have a choice of hot food or can enjoy a healthy alternative from the salad bar. Lunch times are staggered so that pupils can enjoy lunchtime clubs such as Chamber Choir, Debating Club, and Languages Club.
- 1.20pm
Children enjoy a mixture of lessons throughout the afternoon to spark their curiosity and increase their understanding of the world. Some children get creative in art lessons, studying famous artists, and experimenting with different mediums to express themselves.
- 2.25pm
Breaktime – A chance to stretch legs and have a run around so that students’ minds are prepared for the final lessons of the day.
- 2.30pm
Afternoon lessons resume with children learning how to be scientists by examining the world around them, or historians gazing into the past and finding out what we can learn for today.
- 3.45pm
Home time! Teaching staff dismiss pupils to go home or to head off to their exciting after-school clubs, or Tearex wraparound care. Afternoon clubs include Modern & Street Dance, Karate and Tennis.
