Fun, Friends, and Food: Year 6 Take on France!

At the end of the Spring term, 25 Prep pupils and staff boarded the ferry to Calais for an exciting 4-day trip to France.

Day 1

The trip started with a ride on Le Dragon de Calais, a massive, 72-tonne, wood-and-steel interactive robotic creature that takes passengers along the Calais seafront. Before settling into their accommodation at Hotel Moulin aux Draps.

Day 2

The day started with a look around the Boulangerie le Fournil with some delicious croissants to taste at the end. After lunch, they visited the Nausicaa Sea Life Centre to explore the creatures of the ocean and learn why protecting the deep seabed is so important.

Day 3

Time for some activities at the hotel including bread making, a Robin Hood experience, orienteering and French lessons. In the afternoon the group made a thought-provoking visit to the Etaples War Memorial Cemetery,  followed by an afternoon of sightseeing and beach fun in Le Touquet. "I loved visiting the beach and playing football on the sand." Leo

Day 4

Pupils spent the morning discovering how chocolate is made at Les Chocolats de Beussent. "We visited a chocolate factory and got to try some chocolate. It was very nice. I liked seeing the machines!" Arlo. In the afternoon, the group stopped at Auchan Hypermarché to buy souvenirs before catching the ferry home. Au revoir!

What did our pupils think?

We tried snails for the first time - it was different but not what I expected! We loved them and ate so many!

Jamie

It was an amazing experience and there were so many fun things to do all the time.

My favourite part was visiting the aquarium.

Billy

I loved visiting Le Touquet- we ate crêpes and visited the shops - the shops were very pretty and I enjoyed going around with my group.
