Year 6 Step Back in Time at the Bluebell Railway
Today Year 6 immersed themselves in life during the Second World War, arriving in fantastic evacuee costumes for a memorable day of learning and discovery at the Bluebell Railway in East Grinstead.
With the help of the Bluebell Railway’s brilliant guides, they explored the inside of a steam engine, met their evacuee families, asked fascinating questions to a real-life evacuee and experienced the intensity of an air raid!
The visit brought their classroom learning to life, giving pupils a deeper understanding of what it was like to be evacuated during wartime Britain. From their wonderful costumes to their curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the day, they did a fantastic job of stepping into the shoes of children from the past.
A huge thank you to the team at the Bluebell Railway for such an engaging and educational experience.
