Welcome to Sixth Form
Life in the Sixth Form at Lingfield College offers an exciting bridge between school and university or a career path. It marks a clear transition for our students to a level of education that provides greater freedoms accompanied by more responsibility.
Our purpose-built Sixth Form Centre is a warm and motivating environment for students to study, meet and socialise. With access to specialist teaching rooms for careers education, a 150-seat lecture theatre, the Atrium Café and dedicated study rooms, students can explore and assert their independence within a vibrant and familiar community atmosphere.
Building on the strong foundations established at GCSE, the Sixth Form offers a broad and varied curriculum. Students feel the benefit of small classes and individual support and tuition that prepare them for university and beyond. In addition, our enrichment programme provides extensive opportunities for personal development through fieldwork, trips and a variety of educational and co-curricular activities. Students can participate in The Duke of Edinburgh Award, drama, sports and music, Extended Project Qualifications (EPQ) and other leadership opportunities.
Students leave our Sixth Form with a defined pathway, they are well-rounded, confident and with a sense of purpose, ready to discover the world beyond Lingfield.
The Sixth Form teachers have been so supportive, I wouldn't have achieved my grades without them. The guidance from the careers advisor and UCAS teams aided me every step of the way.
A day in the life at Lingfield Sixth Form
Breakfast - Every day in the Dining Hall there is a wide selection of breakfast foods including hot food, pastries, cereals, fruit and smoothies.
On Mondays and Fridays students have extended form time for PSHE, assemblies and further activities. Some students take this time to mentor younger individuals, giving support and guidance.
Lessons 1 and 2 start – Students normally take 3 subjects, but we also offer 4 subjects if you want a challenge… Some A Level subjects include Economics, Photography, Psychology and Lingfield also offers BTECs like Media, Business and PE.
Break – The Atrium café offers a selection of hot or cold snacks. The Common Room has recently been redesigned and now includes table football, polish seating areas and a new television with a games console.
Study time - Students have 8 study periods a week. All students take a 6-week course with our Careers Advisor learning how to write a CV, preparing for job interviews and to find out about options for their future.
Lunch – Sixth Form students have a separate Dining area with a wide range of meal options including vegan and vegetarian options. During the extended lunch break, students can also take part in clubs, sports, lesson clinics, music and more.
Lessons - Students usually have 6 lessons a day for their A Level and BTEC subjects. Some students also take EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) which is undertaken during study periods. Sixth Form also has an allocated day for sports.
After school – There is an array of after-school clubs for students to take part in along with additional study support groups for further academic studies. School buses are available, and many students opt to take the train which is only a 10-minute walk from the school grounds.

One of my favourite things about Lingfield is our ability to provide students with such a wide range of options, which enables them to reach their full potential regardless of their strengths or interests; a real unique strength of ours. Watching them flourish and explore different degree courses across the country and various inspiring career opportunities is so rewarding for both students and teachers alike.David Scott - Head of Psychology & UCAS Co-ordinator
