Lingfield Prep Sporting Roundup
A look back on the 2021 winter term by Mrs Major and Mr Kempson
Our U10A girls' hockey team kicked off the season with a fantastic win at the Ardingly hockey tournament, they played brilliantly to win this very competitive event.
We have also had a busy season with all year groups from years 3 - 6 competing in local fixtures, achieving some good results across the board. Our Year 5&6 Girls A team also played in the ISA National Hockey tournament at the Lee Valley Hockey Centre, achieving a runners up medal in the Trophy competition.
Years 3 - 6 took part in a mixed gender interhouse hockey tournament. After an exciting week of year group matches, St. Patrick's house was crowned this year's champions.
Our training started very well in September and many children were achieving personal best times in their lessons. We competed in the East Grinstead Schools Cross Country Event and were delighted with all our children's performances. Arthur won the U11 Boys race, which was amazing to see. Our girls Team finished 2nd and our Boys team finished 3rd in the team events.
The football season started very well across all year groups and we achieved extremely good results in our local matches. We have had 2 amazing achievements by our Colts A Football team to win the ISA London South Regional Football Tournament and progress to the National Finals in March 2022. This was follwed by an outstanding achievement to win the highly competitive ISFA Kent & Surrey Football Tournament, therefore, completing the double and progressing to the Finals in May 2022. Both of these finals will take place at St. George's Park, Home of English Football, which will be an amazing experience for them.
Charity Santa Run
Our year 6 boys and girls took part in a 1 mile charity run for Young Epilepsy on Wednesday 8th December. Everyone involved had a fantastic time and the children looked amazing in their Santa suits, which were supplied by Young Epilepsy. All the children entered into the festive spirit and ran extremely well, even saying a "Ho, Ho, Ho" as they crossed the finish line. The staff at YE couldn't believe how fast the children completed the course. Young Epilepsy were also very pleased and thankful for our £100 donation.
