Year 3 Explore Lingfield’s Rich History with Local Historian

Pupils in Year 3 stepped back in time this week as they explored Lingfield Village alongside a local historian.

The educational walk allowed pupils to learn about the village’s historical buildings, discovering their construction and the fascinating stories behind their distinctive features.

The tour brought history to life as the children imagined what life would be like for the Anglo-Saxons who once lived there. From timber-framed houses to ancient landmarks, each stop on the walk revealed more about the village’s past and its significance through the centuries.

The outing was an engaging way to deepen pupils understanding of local history and how communities have evolved over time. One Year 3 pupil commented, “It was so cool to see real buildings from a long time ago and learn why they were made that way!”

The walk was part of the class’s ongoing history project, and pupils will now use what they’ve learnt to support their learning in History and creative work in the classroom.
