Sixth Form Students Showcase Independent Research at EPQ Presentation Evening

Congratulations to our Year 12 Sixth Form students who completed and presented their Extended Project Qualifications (EPQs) this week at Lingfield College.

The EPQ, offered alongside A Level studies, allows students to carry out independent research on a topic of personal interest, culminating in a 5,000-word essay. This student-led qualification is designed to develop essential transferable skills, including critical thinking, time management, and academic research—all of which are vital for success in higher education and future careers.

Parents and staff were welcomed into our Sixth Form centre on Tuesday evening to watch the EPQ student presentations. This element contributes to the final EPQ grade and gives students the chance to confidently showcase their subject knowledge, research depth, and ability to answer challenging questions.

Through the EPQ, students have demonstrated academic excellence, independent learning, and effective communication skills. Presenting to an audience of peers, staff, and families has further boosted their self-assurance—an important milestone as they prepare for life beyond Lingfield College.
