Lingfield Eco Warriors Plant 'Incredible Edibles'

Lingfield Prep school are involved in a fantastic Eco, Science and Mental Health initiative to grow ‘Incredible Edibles’. Years 1-6 have been allocated raised planters around the outdoor classroom, which they will plant out this week, and Reception will plant near their classrooms. All the plants will be organically grown without the use of pesticides. To keep the crops safe from hungry insects, they have considered companions such as marigolds and nasturtiums to plant alongside the tomatoes, lettuce and chard.
Our Eco Warriors started the planting with trailing cherry tomatoes in a hanging basket, basil and lettuce. They also planted some sunflower seeds, which they will take home during the half-term to care for before returning them to school for our final half-term.
All year groups are hoping to enjoy a delicious salad of their home-grown produce at the end of term!
