Lingfield College Head Student Team Announced for 25/26
We are delighted to announce that River, Jess, Miko, and Lucy will be our new Sixth-Form Head Student Team for next year. These four students are excited to begin their new leadership roles and, particularly, to give back to their school community.
Can you introduce yourselves to the Lingfield Community?
My name is Jess, and I am proud to say I am one of the new Head Students this year. I am currently studying Psychology, Biology and PE A Levels and I have been at the school since Reception. I am really looking forward to being part of the new Head Student team!
Hi, my name is River, and it’s a pleasure to be a Head Student this year. I am currently studying English Literature, Economics and German alongside an EPQ, where I am researching ‘How effective antidoping efforts have been in curbing the use of performance-enhancing drugs in Olympic sprinting?’ I joined Lingfield College in Year 7 and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience throughout all my years here.
Hi, my name is Miko, and I'm very pleased to be a part of the Head Student Team this year. I joined Lingfield in year 9, and am currently studying Maths, Economics and German at A Level.
Hi, I’m Lucy, and I’m so excited to be part of this year’s Head Student Team. I am currently studying Maths, Spanish and Psychology for A Levels, and I have been at Lingfield since Year 7.
Why did you want to be part of the Head Student Team?
River Lingfield College has played a significant role in shaping who I am today, providing me with countless opportunities to grow and thrive and therefore, I felt as though becoming Head Student would be my way of giving back to the school community that has supported me so much, helping to maintain and enhance the inclusive and encouraging environment that has benefited me and so many others.
Lucy I have wanted to be part of the Head Student Team since my first assembly on the first day of Year 7, when I saw the Head Students from that year announced, as they are a symbol of the kindness and support that our school represents. Throughout my years at Lingfield, I have been provided with so much in terms of endless opportunities both in and outside the classroom, as well as such a supportive community of both friends and teachers; I want to use this role as a way to give back to the place that has already given me so much.
Jess I have been at Lingfield since I was 4 years old, and many members of my family were here before me. I want to give back to the community that has supported me over the years. I remember looking up to the Sixth Formers as role models. They seemed very confident and approachable, and now that I’m in that position myself, I want to be someone younger students can look up to in the same way. I was excited by the challenges the role presented and could not think of a more rewarding way to conclude my final year at Lingfield.
Miko I wanted to be part of the Head Student Team because I care about the school and the people in it. Ever since I joined Lingfield I've looked up to the head student team, and now want to be that role model for other younger students.
What makes Lingfield special to you?
Miko What makes Lingfield special to me is the sense of community. It’s a school where people actually know each other, across year groups, subjects, and activities. Whether it’s through MUN, where I’ve seen students grow in confidence, or just chatting with teachers who genuinely care, there’s a strong feeling that people are supported here. The school gives you space to try things, to fail, and to improve - and I think that’s what makes Lingfield stand out. It’s not just about grades or results, but about helping people become more well-rounded.
Jess Lingfield is so special to me because of the strong sense of community, great teachers and all the opportunities it offers. There’s a real sense of belonging here, and there are so many chances to try new things and push yourself. One of the things that’s made my time here so special is sport. It’s a huge part of school life and has brought so many of us together over the years, especially sports day and interhouse competitions, which are always full of energy, fun and chaos.
Lucy What makes Lingfield special to me is the opportunities we are provided with. The school has endless clubs and activities for everyone to get involved, which extends throughout the school all the way up to sixth form where we’re supported to achieve our potential and given every chance to reach this. The school cares about its students and helps each person find a community of people who will help them become the best version of who they already are.
River What stood out to me immediately was just how welcoming everyone was; the teachers, older students, even the lunch staff—everyone made an effort to help you feel at home. And the school doesn’t just leave it to chance, either. Furthermore, an aspect I have always cherished of this school is the sport, From football and rugby to athletics, cricket, and even things like badminton and cross country, there really is something for everyone—whether you're chasing a scholarship or just looking to run around and have fun. The school makes it easy to get involved, to try new things, and to improve, no matter your level.
What would you like to achieve in your role in the coming year?
Lucy This year, one thing myself and our team would love to achieve is further connecting the year groups and finding a way for older year groups to be even more involved in helping those younger than them, to make sure every student feels valued and seen.
Jess I would like to create more connections between year groups, ensuring every student feels valued, heard and a part of the Lingfield Community. I would also like to show students that it’s beneficial to step outside their comfort zone and embrace new challenges, rather than shy away from them.
River I hope to improve the environmental sustainability aspect of this school and also further connections between students of differing years.
Miko I’d like to help make student leadership feel more connected to the wider school community. Through extra-curriculars such as MUN and other student-led initiatives, I want to encourage more discussion, debate, and confidence across year groups. I also hope to support younger students in finding their voice, whether that’s through clubs, assemblies or just being someone approachable around school.
