Lingfield College Ski Trip - Passo Tonale 2026

Over half term, 65 pupils from Years 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 set off on Lingfield College’s annual ski trip to Passo Tonale, Italy and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

The trip took place while the 2026 Winter Olympics were being held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo and although Passo Tonale wasn’t an official venue, the Olympic atmosphere was everywhere. Screens throughout the resort were showing Olympic events, creating a real sense of winter-sports celebration and excitement that felt just like being part of the Games themselves.  

On the slopes, the group skied between four and five hours each day in exceptional conditions. With fresh snow and incredible powder throughout the week, the progress made by all ability levels was remarkable. From complete beginners finding their confidence on the nursery slopes to our more experienced skiers carving confidently higher up the mountain, every pupil embraced the challenge.

The resort had a real buzz about it, and the backdrop of the surrounding mountains added to the magic of the trip. Off the slopes, the children stayed in a fantastic hotel complete with a swimming pool, gym, table tennis and plenty of space to relax and socialise. Evenings were filled with laughter, tired legs and plenty of well-earned food.

Most importantly, the smiles were constant from first lift to last run. The pupils exceeded expectations in their attitude, resilience and willingness to push themselves, particularly in challenging weather conditions at times. Both staff and students returned home absolutely exhausted, but with memories that will last a long time. 

Mr Casey is already in the process of organising next year’s trip and if this year is anything to go by, it promises to be another unforgettable experience.
