Lingfield College GCSE Students Celebrate Success Across Subjects

After last week’s outstanding A Level results, the celebrations continue at Lingfield College as our Year 11 pupils receive their GCSE results today, marking an important milestone in their school journey.

This year, our students have achieved some excellent outcomes, with 86% of all GCSE grades awarded at 9–5 and nearly 40% of results achieving the top grades of 9–7 (equivalent to A*–A under the previous grading system).  Among this year group were some impressive individual achievements, including nine students who achieved grades 9-7 in every subject.

We are also celebrating notable subject successes. In Music, every student achieved grade 8 or 9, while in History more than three-quarters of results were awarded at grades 7,8 and 9. Other strong performances came from Languages, Media, Geography, Maths and Physics, reflecting the breadth of talent and ambition across the cohort.

Students were equally delighted with their outcomes.

Tilly, who achieved four grade 9s, three 8s, three 7s and an A in Additional Maths, and will go on to study Maths, Economics and Psychology at Lingfield Sixth Form, said: “I’m so happy with my results, especially my A in Additional Maths and my grades in Economics and Physics. My teachers made sure I felt fully prepared, filling in the gaps and supporting us right up to the exams. I’m really looking forward to Sixth Form – the independence, the smaller year group, and everything that comes with it.”

Natasha, who achieved five grade 9s, two 8s and a 7, reflected: “The teachers were very supportive, especially Mrs Folkard, who was there for us every day before exams, and my History teacher, Miss Groves, who helped me achieve a grade 9. I’ve loved playing sport during my time at Lingfield – hockey, netball and cricket – and I’m excited to start A Levels in French, Business and Spanish."

Myles, who achieved a string of top grades including three grade 9s, four 8s and three 7s, added: “I’m particularly proud of my grade 9 in Physics because the paper was really difficult. All my teachers have been amazing, and I've got so much from science clinics and extra support. I’ve also loved taking part in Model United Nations and running my own entrepreneur club, and I’ll be busy preparing as Secretary General for Lingfield Model United Nations in December. Next year I’ll be studying Physics, Maths and Computer Science, and I’m looking forward to going into more depth – and taking on an EPQ.”

Headmaster Richard Bool said, “We are so proud of our Year 11. These results are not just numbers – they represent years of effort, resilience and dedication. Our students have shown real determination and strength of character, and we are delighted to see them celebrating today. At Lingfield we believe in stretching pupils to achieve their best while ensuring they feel supported and happy along the way. Today’s achievements are a wonderful reflection of that ethos.”

As our Year 11 students step into the Sixth Form and beyond, we congratulate each of them on their achievements and look forward to the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.
