Senior Sports Report: Autumn Term 2025

This Autumn term at Lingfield Sport has been one of the most successful, diverse and energised periods of sport we have seen in recent years. Pupils from across the Senior School have represented Lingfield with commitment, determination and tremendous pride, both in high-level performance pathways and through our Sport for All programme. Their collective enthusiasm, effort and character have shone through every match, tournament and training session.
Across football, hockey, netball, rugby, basketball, swimming and cross-country, our athletes have shown what it means to wear the Lingfield badge. We are proud not only of their results, but of the spirit in which they have conducted themselves. Their resilience, teamwork and sportsmanship have made this term truly memorable.
As we come to the end of the term, we want to express how immensely proud we are of all our pupils - those competing nationally, those playing weekly fixtures, and those giving their best every games lesson.
Thank you, and we wish you all a wonderful Christmas break.

Senior School – Key Achievements (2025/26 Season)
Football: A Record-Breaking Term
Both boys’ and girls’ football have enjoyed outstanding success this season, with several age groups reaching the latter stages of national competitions. These runs represent some of the strongest national performances in the school’s history and reflect the ever-growing strength of football across all age groups.
- U13 boys progressed to the ISFA National Trophy Quarter Finals
- U13 girls matched this achievement by reaching the ISFA National Cup Quarter Finals.
- U14 boys advanced to the Last 16 in the ESFA National Small Schools Cup
- Both U13 and U15 girls reached the Last 16 in their ESFA competitions.
Girls’ Hockey: A Historic Season
The 2025/26 season marks the most successful girls’ hockey campaign at Lingfield to date, with two age groups progressing into the second term of national competitions for the first time. Across the term, our girls played an extraordinary 147 competitive matches.
- U12 Girls enjoyed an excellent introduction to competitive hockey, finishing as Silver Medallists in the Surrey Plate after a dramatic penalty shootout in the final. They also reached the semi-finals of the UKSA Plate, and two of the squad played up an age group in U13 fixtures—a remarkable achievement at this stage of their development.
- U13 Girls made school history by advancing further than any previous Lingfield girls’ team in national competitions. They produced a superb season that included a Silver Medal at the ISA National Finals at Lee Valley, finishing second from a field of 32 teams. They also reached the quarter-finals of the ISHC Cup, putting themselves in contention for National Finals Day. Two players earned county selection, and several featured impressively in U14, U15 and Senior 1st XI squads.
- U14 Girls The U14s continue their national journey into the spring term, achieving a 77% win rate and securing the title of Surrey Cup Champions. They also represented the school at the South East England Area Finals, with the opportunity to progress to Nationals.
- U15 Girls Our U15s progressed through Round 1 of the National Cup with an excellent performance and finished third in the Bowl Competition at the ISA National Championships.
- Senior Girls The Senior 1st XI were crowned Surrey Cup Champions and went on to secure Silver at the South East England Area Finals, representing the school at the highest level with great distinction.
Netball: Strong Progress in All Age Groups
Netball continues to develop across the school, with several teams progressing deep into national competitions. We look forward to more progress in the netball term next year.

- U13 Girls – SnS National Bowl – Still in competition
- U15 Girls – SnS National Bowl – Still in competition

Cross Country: Outstanding District Representation
We are incredibly proud of Beau, Luca, Sandro, Harry, Oliver, James and Ella, who have all qualified to represent the district at the Surrey Cross Country Championships in January. Each athlete finished inside the top five out of approximately 90 competitors - an achievement that reflects both their talent and determination.
Swimming: National Success
At the ISA National Swimming Championships at the London Aquatics Centre, four of our swimmers produced exceptional performances at national level.
Congratulations to Inky, Ben, Sophia and Billie, who all achieved podium places and represented both themselves and the school brilliantly in what was an outstanding event.
We are particularly delighted to congratulate Billie, who secured third place in the breaststroke, an outstanding achievement at national level.
Basketball: A Fantastic Term
Basketball has grown hugely this term, with fixtures across all age groups:
- Several dramatic matches decided by one or two points, showing how competitive the teams are becoming.
- Strong wins across the board and a clear improvement in skill level and teamwork.
The sport is gaining real momentum, and we are excited to see where it goes next.
Rugby: Impressive Development in Years 7 & 8
Our Year 7 and Year 8 rugby teams have made excellent progress:
- Strong physicality and improved tactical understanding.
- High-quality performances against Sackville, Imberhorne, Dunottar and Oakwood.
- A noticeable rise in confidence and teamwork.
A brilliant term for these young squads.
