Prep Success at ISA Regional Athletics

Superb results for prep athletes with 10 children through to the Nationals

On Tuesday 7th June 2022, Mrs Major and Mr Kempson took 39 children from years 4, 5 and 6 to the Norman Park Athletics Stadium in Bromley to compete in the ISA London South regional competition against 19 other schools.

The eventual winners of each final race go forward to represent the London South region at the National Championships in Manchester. Only the first placed competitor can qualify from all events, with the exception of the 600m race, where gold and silver medallists both qualify. With the possibility of up to 40 children competing in the track heats, it is quite difficult to achieve this National qualification. The silver medallists are also first reserves, if for any reason a gold medallist is unable to compete on the day.

The weather was not particularly kind to all competitors, however, we had some great performances across the day. 10 Lingfield pupils will now go forward to compete in the National event on Monday 13th June at the Manchester Regional Arena. This is a hugely exciting opportunity for our young athletes to compete at this stage.
