Lingfield Success at ISA Regional Athletics Competition
14 pupils go through to the Nationals in June
On Thursday 18th May 2023, we took 34 children from years 4, 5 and 6 to the Xcel Centre in Walton on Thames to compete in the ISA London South Regional competition against 21 other schools.
The eventual winners of each final race go forward to represent the London South region at the National Championships in Birmingham. Only the first placed competitor can qualify from all events, with the exception of the 600m race, where gold and silver medallists both qualify. With the possibility of up to 40 children competing in the track heats, it is quite difficult to achieve this National qualification. The silver medallists are also first reserves, if for any reason a gold medallist is unable to compete on the day.
We had some great performances across the day. 14 Lingfield pupils will now compete in the National event on Monday 19th June at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. This is a hugely exciting opportunity for our young athletes to compete on this stage.
