Lingfield Prep Celebrates Eco-Schools Green Flag with Distinction

Lingfield College Prep has been awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag with Distinction for the fourth consecutive year!
This prestigious recognition is a testament to our whole-school commitment to sustainability, environmental awareness and inspiring eco-leadership in our young people. It celebrates the passion and perseverance of our community – all working together for a greener future.
..the school has created a community that feels informed, involved and genuinely motivated to make positive environmental choices. Well done!
This year, our Eco-Schools focus was on Biodiversity, Energy and Waste, and we’re incredibly proud of the strides we’ve made in all three areas.
♻️ Recycling and Upcycling
Our biggest success? Our Under the Sea recycling and upcycling fashion show has been a standout success this year, raising awareness for our Eco Charity for the year, Blue Marine Foundation,
Pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 worked together in their house teams, using everything from magazines and cardboard tubes to fruit-net string to transform recycled cotton T-shirts into lobsters, mermaids and all sorts of sea creatures! They then proudly modelled them for the whole school.
🌍 World Earth Day
The school has woven Global Citizenship through World Earth Day, with pupils creating habitats and designing leaflets linked to Dinosaurs and All That Rubbish. "These activities helped pupils understand how their choices affect the planet, and the mix of English, Science and hands-on creativity has had such a positive impact on the school community."
💧Small Changes, Big Impact
The Eco Schools team praised Year 2 for making brilliant curriculum links through their literacy work on The Water Protectors.
"Their protest placards and march around the school were such a powerful way to show their understanding, and it had a lovely impact by helping the whole school see how important it is to respect and protect water."

Whole-school events like Switch Off Fortnight, Fairtrade Fortnight, the David Attenborough 100th birthday food-waste challenge, the eco-fashion Show and Earth Day promises have all helped raise the profile of eco-projects in such a fun, visible way.
Congratulations to every pupil, staff member and family who has supported this journey – this is your award too.
