Beyond the Classroom - Prep Pupils Bring their Learning to Life

Learning beyond the classroom is a valuable way to enhance learning and understanding of the curriculum, and this week our Lingfield Prep pupils have been bringing their learning to life with some exciting trips!
Year 4
Year 4 had a wonderful trip to Herstmonceux Science Centre. They participated in a team challenge to learn about the science behind bridge building and learnt more about different states of materials in an exciting workshop involving water, fire, vinegar and baking soda. They also had fun interacting with the different exhibits throughout the observatory.
Year 3
Year 3 enjoyed a fantastic educational trip to Bough Beech SES Water Reservoir bringing their learning about the water cycle to life and understanding how our everyday water is treated, filtered, and made safe to use. They took part in discussions about household water usage, exploring the many ways we use water every day and how small changes can make a big difference. The message was clear: we should all strive to be water savers, not water wasters!
Year 2
Year 2 had a wonderful day out at Amberley Transport Museum where they ejoyed a scenic ride on the train and an exciting journey on a heritage bus, sitting right at the top of the double-decker.
They learned how wheels are made and discovered how they have developed over time, and were fascinated to see how bicycles have changed, from the penny-farthing to the modern bikes we use today. One of the biggest surprises was learning that early bicycle lights were powered by a candle! They also explored how fire engines have changed over the years and were amazed to see how firefighters once used simple buckets of water and sand, compared with the powerful, modern fire engines we rely on today.
