A Splash of Excitement as Swimming Launches at Lingfield Prep

Starting this September, pupils will have the opportunity to take part in weekly after-school swimming sessions at the Peter Harrison Foundation Aqua Centre, just two minutes down the road at Young Epilepsy. This new opportunity has been introduced in direct response to feedback from our school community and reflects our ongoing commitment to expanding enrichment in meaningful, practical ways.

Each Tuesday, a group of pupils of all abilities will be transported to the pool to enjoy structured lessons led by two qualified swimming teachers, supported by a lifeguard to ensure everyone’s safety. Depending on the level of interest, children will either swim throughout the whole year or on a rotating basis, providing as many pupils as possible can benefit from this experience.

But this is about more than just learning to swim. These sessions help build water confidence and essential swimming techniques, while also developing resilience, wellbeing, teamwork, and a sense of achievement - skills that last a lifetime.

Director of Studies, Christina Hubbard, shared her thoughts,

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be introducing swimming! It’s something parents have asked about and we’ve been keen to offer, so it’s lovely to finally make it happen. Learning to swim is such an important life skill, but it’s also so much fun. I can’t wait to see the children grow in confidence as they splash, swim and enjoy this brilliant new opportunity."
