Year 9 Complete Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Practice
At the weekend, 78 Year 9 students set out on their Bronze Practice Expedition.
We met at Long Car Park, Danehill, in Ashdown Forest, where the walking groups met their trainers from BXM. They spent the Saturday walking to Blackland Farm, putting the navigation skills they learned on the Training Day into action. On Saturday evening, they had to put up their tents and cook a meal on a camp stove.
On Sunday, they were up early to walk back to Danehill, along a different route. This time their trainers met them at checkpoints, but otherwise the groups had to be more independent, adding another level of challenge to their skills. All the groups made it back without issue, and whilst many were tired, they also knew that they had done themselves proud.
