Mr Steve Casey
Director of Sport and Co-Curricular

The School has a sporting ethos of ‘Opportunity, Participation and Excellence’. Physical Education forms a major part of the timetable as do games afternoons. Sport at Lingfield College is held in very high regard and we believe it is an integral part of a pupil's holistic development. We are very proud of the high standard of sport we offer, as well as the exceptionally high participation rates across all year groups.

The students also have access to a wide range of sporting activities which take place at lunchtime and after-school.  The aim is to provide students with the opportunity to represent the School across a full range of sports, at all levels and age groups, through an extensive school fixture list as well as regional and national competitions.

Hockey, netball and football form the core of major team sport representation in the Autumn and Spring terms whilst cricket, athletics, tennis and rounders provide the main options for the Summer term.

Rugby runs for both the Autumn and Spring Terms and provides an option for those who want to play rugby to represent the School alongside the core of our sports in those terms. Golf, equestrian, swimming, cross-country, badminton, basketball and table-tennis are some of the other competitive team sports available.

Our Saturday sports fixtures are against a variety of schools both in Surrey and Sussex. These sporting blocks primarily focus on our major sports which are hockey, netball, football and cricket.

Students have access to an excellent range of facilities. Sixteen acres of the School site are dedicated to sport. The facilities include many sports pitches, modern indoor sports halls, artificial floodlit hockey and tennis surfaces, all-weather netball and tennis courts and a fully equipped Fitness Suite. There are also eight all-weather cricket nets, two re-laid cricket squares and four new tennis and netball courts. The School is fully committed to providing and maintaining top-class facilities for the development of and participation in a wide range of sports. We are successful at county and national level competitions across all the major sports. A number of students go on to represent the county and region and there is a regular programme of sports tours and competitions for all year groups.

The School offers Sports Scholarships and Sports Awards to talented individual athletes. The Elite Sports Mentoring Programme is run by enthusiastic, motivated and experienced staff and helps aspiring young athletes fulfil their potential.

Highly motivated Physical Education teachers coupled with a large number of external coaching experts, form the nucleus of what is a very successful, progressive and indeed inclusive sporting environment for our pupils.
