Forest School

Our Forest School Aspirations

The philosophy of Forest School is to encourage and inspire children through positive outdoor experiences. Our Forest School activities will be planned to meet the needs of children throughout the Foundation Stage, from Nursery to Reception. We aim to provide your child with regular opportunities to develop skills across the EYFS in a safe outdoor environment, with hands-on experiences to promote their Characteristics of Effective Learning: Playing and Exploring, Active Learning and Creating and Thinking Critically. As well as developing these important themes of their learning, we also aim to provide opportunities to develop fine and gross motor skills. Whilst accessing the Forest School environment, children will begin to develop useful skills and awareness of nature, increase their motivation and learn alternative attitudes and improve their ability to work together and develop team work skills.

Our Forest School Staff

All staff are Child Protection trained, DBS checked and First Aid trained. We have two members of staff who are Forest School Level 3 trained, as well as experienced Forest School staff.

Forest School Uniform

All children will be required to wear their Lingfield black waterproof jacket and trousers provided by SWOTS and wellington boots. Children will not be allowed to take part in Forest School sessions without the correct uniform. Please note that the black waterproof jacket used for Forest School sessions is different to the black school coat.
