As an experienced Early Years practitioner I recognise the great importance of the first steps that children take on their path to learning, how those formative years in the Foundation Stage provide the base for the challenges of Year 1, and the significance of the choice parents must make in selecting a school to ensure their children have the best opportunity available.
As the mother of three children who have all attended the school, I have had to make similar decisions to those that face our parents, which I am very mindful of in my role.
It is my strong belief that the outstanding results we achieve within the Foundation Stage are a result of the dedicated work of our fantastic and highly motivated team. Our staff work tirelessly to ensure that we provide a safe, warm and caring environment in which our children can learn and develop. The marvellous facilities that we enjoy at the school, coupled with the happy and friendly environment make our setting a wonderful place to work. It is why such a number of our fantastic team have been with us for many years.
I originally joined the Foundation Stage in 2004 as a Teaching Assistant in the Caterpillars class, and have previously worked in other local nursery environments including settings which catered for children with Special Needs. One of the most satisfying aspects of my role is seeing so many children, who I remember teaching basic colours, letters and numbers to during my first days in the Foundation Stage, now flourishing in the Senior School. While I resist the temptation (well most of the time!) to remind them of some of those early days in the Foundation Stage, it is very rewarding to see how they have benefitted from the opportunities that the whole school has to offer. How their life at Lingfield Prep started in Caterpillars and Butterflies and has now progressed through to GCSE studies and I see how they have developed into well rounded and independent students of which everyone at Lingfield College is very proud indeed.
