GCSE Results 2018
Following on from last week’s excellent A Level performance, Lingfield College is delighted to announce another set of impressive GCSE results. 63% of all grades were between 9 – 7 (A* – A).
Headmaster Mr Richard Bool said, ‘There have been significant changes to the grading systems this year and we are very proud to announce that our students have once again performed remarkably well. Their parents must be very proud of their achievements and I’d like to personally thank them for their commitment to the school.’
There were some particularly notable performances which are worthy of specific mention for their achievements. The following students attained top grades in all of their subjects.
- Madeline Connelly (Oxted) 2xA*and 8x9s
- Uther Cutting (Forest Row) 2xA* and 8x9s
- Charlotte Oakeby (Maidenbower) 3xA* and 7x9s
- Talia Patel (Felbridge) 2xA* and 8x9s
- Nina Skrzypczak (Dormansland) 3xA* and 7x9s
The following students also performed exceptionally well.
- James Penston (Godstone) 1xA*, 1xA and 8x9
- Henry Dodridge (Dormans Park) 2xA*, 7x9s and 1x8
- Bethan Maidment (Forest Row) 1xA*, 7x9s and 1x8
- Abby Jackson (Felbridge) 2xA*, 1xB, 6x9 and 1x8
Head of Year 11, Mrs Angela Brown stated, ‘It is important to mark the achievements of those pupils who have worked extremely hard to obtain these great results. We pay special tribute to those whose commitment and persistence has enabled them to achieve far beyond their predicted grades. At Lingfield we believe that it is the balance of strong academic learning and the rich co-curricular life that defines successful students and allows them to succeed.’
The results in core subject areas were once again extremely strong. An impressive 91% of all students studying English obtained grades between 9 – 7 (A* - A). 88% of students studying the three Sciences achieved marks between 9 – 7 (A* - A). Maths also saw 98% of students achieving 9 – 4 (A* - C). The Music Department is also once again celebrating their outstanding results: for the third year in a row all students have achieved 9 – 7 (A* – A) grades.
Mr Bool also extended his thanks to the dedicated staff. ‘Our teaching staff always go above and beyond to help our students. Their support and commitment to allowing our students to thrive at Lingfield is impressive.’
