GCSE Results 2017

The celebrations continue at Lingfield College. Following on from last week’s A Level results, Lingfield students, parents and staff are now celebrating the school’s best GCSE results. More than 30% of the students achieved at least 5 A*s and more than 90% of the grades were A* – B.

Lingfield students performed exceptionally well across all areas of the curriculum with the core subjects of Maths, English and Science being of a very high standard. English Language and Literature saw grades of A* - B, 100% and 97% respectively. The Science results were also particularly strong. Almost every student achieved A* - B in all three Sciences and in Physics 92% achieved A* - A. The School’s Maths Department has achieved exceptional results for several years now and this year was no exception with 93% attaining a B grade and above.

The grades in the option subjects were also incredibly strong.  In Music, every student achieved an A* or an A and in History nearly 80% of the candidates scored an A* or A.

The top performers who achieved 10 straight A* were Naomi Insole and Oliver Jones, both from East Grinstead. Lingfield resident, Annabel Telfer was awarded an impressive 9 A*s. Naomi Bool, Keira Byrne, Hayley Covel, Olivia Grey, Alice Male, Elizabeth Mitchell, Edward Stevens and Oliver Tocher were also amongst the success stories, each with 8 A*s.

Other noteworthy candidates with an impressive 7 A*s were Phoebe Bool, Robyn Elrick, Callum Howat and Freddie Matthews.

Headmaster Richard Bool said, “I am delighted with the results. They are a very bright hard-working year group and they thoroughly deserve their success. Whilst I am happy that so many achieved brilliant grades, I am even more pleased that so many met or exceeded their potential. I am confident that they will rise to the challenges of the Sixth Form and I look forward to watching their progress.”
