Where are they now?

We would love to hear from ex Lingfield College pupils and your stories of what you have achieved after you left the School.  Please contact the Alumni Secretary, Susan Roe on

Eve Holding – Class of 1989

Eve Holding was a previous pupil at Lingfield College who left in 1989.  In September 1989 Eve joined  The Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst to commission as an Officer in the British Army. Eve served for 10 years in the Army, covering various postings to Northern Ireland and Bosnia.  She also qualified as the fourth female Bomb Disposal Officer.

On leaving the Army, Eve spent 12 years in the health industry, specialising in transformation and change management within radiology, theatres and pathology, before spending two years in the emergency services training field.   Eve’s latest role is Head of Future Business for Babcock Land Defence, providing equipment support to the Army for all their military vehicles.

Eve has many fond memories of the School, including jumping in the stream, tea after sports matches, writing her name (along with others!) under the steps to the stage in the Auditorium, scary nuns, scary Sixth Formers and becoming a scary Sixth Former!

Samantha Ling, Class of 2008

We had the opportunity to catch up with Samantha Ling to see how life after Lingfield College is progressing.

Samantha is a previous pupil at Lingfield College (then Lingfield Notre Dame) and left in 2008.  She studied Philosophy, Business Studies and English Literature at A Level, and achieved excellent grades (AAB).  She gained a place at the University of Bournemouth where she read Psychology.  Samantha decided upon Human Resources as her career path and started at Vent-Axia (a ventilation company based in Gatwick) and was there for three years.  Her first position in the company was HR Administrator, and she was promoted to HR Advisor and then Senior HR Advisor.  Samantha consequently changed roles to work at Pinewood Studios Group, based at Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, where she still works as Group HR Advisor.  Samantha is also studying for her Masters in HR Management at Buckinghamshire University and is on track to achieve a  first class degree. Her dissertation is on the gender pay gap, a highly topical issue!

Samantha has very fond memories of her time here at Lingfield College. The School was supportive of her, gave her a sense of belonging and it had a good sense of community.  In addition she had a great group of friends. While she studied at Lingfield College, Samantha achieved the Sixth Form Award for Excellent Progress in 2008.

Laura Washington, Class of 2012

Laura left Lingfield College (or Lingfield Notre Dame as it was then) in 2012.  She studied A Level Geography (B), English Language (B) and Maths (B) before gaining a place at Plymouth University to read Geography.

After graduating, Laura went to work as an Operations Executive, before quickly moving to Senior Operations Executive for Masterclass Sports for two years.  Laura, who loves geography and working with and teaching people, taught sailing in the holidays for many years. She has decided to go back to being a student and is currently studying to gain her Geography PGCE in Norwich, a subject she find exciting and interesting.

During her time at Lingfield, Laura remembers the amazing holidays, especially to USA, Iceland and skiing.  Laura was involved in many school productions, both musical and dramatic and won an award for contribution to Music and Drama, as well as other awards.  Laura was also Head Girl, something that she is proud to say.   She is still good friends to this day with many of those with whom she joined the nursery.
