What is the registration fee?

The registration fee is non-refundable and payable on submission of application:

  • £100 Students residing in the UK
  • £125 Overseas students, sitting the Senior School Entrance Examinations overseas
  • £250 International Sixth Form Students.

 

When are the Entrance Examinations?

The Entrance Examinations consist of three papers; Verbal Reasoning, Mathematics and English (standard comprehension and creative writing). Please note that it is not our policy to send out examples of past papers to assist in preparation. Verbal Reasoning papers are available to download from the internet and are available from all good high street bookshops. If your child has not seen a Verbal Reasoning paper before, we would recommend some practice ahead of the Examinations.

Closing date for applications to the entrance exam is midday, Friday 8th November 2019
Entex takes place on Saturday 18th January 2020 (8.45am – 12.45pm)

 

Standard 13+

Entrance Exams taken by students whilst in Year 8
The closing date for applications to the entrance exam is midday Friday 18th October 2019

Scholarship Assessments 11+ and 13+ entry

Scholarships can only be taken in the January prior to year of entry.
Academic scholarship examinations will take place during the afternoon of Saturday 18th January.

Closing date – Friday 13th December

Taster Days take place on 2 or 3 allocated dates in January. They will be assigned a ‘buddy’ from our Lower Sixth who will accompany them to the subject lessons they hope to study at A/BTEC Level. and they will also have an informal interview/chat with Mrs Folkard, our Head of Sixth Form.

Entry requirement - A place cannot be guaranteed for those not achieving 43 points in the summer although some concessions may be made for students who have been awarded consistently high effort grades as well as having a good disciplinary record, providing they are prepared to follow our advice on option choices.

How many forms are there in each year group?

For Years 7-11 there are 6 forms.

For Years 12&13 there are 8 forms.

 

Which subjects are set on ability?

Maths is set on ability from the beginning of Year 7.

English and MFL are set part way through Year 7.

Science is set from the beginning of Year 9.

 

Which language options are available?

The language options are French, German and Spanish. Students study:

Two languages in Years 7-8, 

One or two languages in Year 9.

One or two languages in Years 10 & 11.

 

SENDCo

If your child has Special Educational Needs you would need to provide us with an up-to-date copy of their Educational Psychologist report.  This is then forwarded to our SENDCo to review and advise if your child is eligible for extra time or use of other equipment for Examinations in accordance with the JCQ regulations.

Breakfast Club

Children can take breakfast in the Dining Room from 7.40am – 8.30am.  There are a variety of different items for sale from pastries through to full English.

After-school provision 

The following provisions are made for students after school at Lingfield College Senior School: 

  • Clubs and activities are run on and off-site 
  • ICTB is available for students until 5pm
  • The School Library is open until 5pm
  • A Homework Support club runs until 5pm
  • Between 5-6pm, students still on site will be required to work quietly in Room 2 under supervision
  • The School Office is staffed by a trained first aider until 6pm
  • The School building and site are closed from 6pm, unless an evening event is taking place.

Coach Routes

During the winter months (November – February), a shuttle service runs between the School and Lingfield station at 4.55pm for those students in after school activities.
