World Book Day 2020
World Book Day is a dressing-up-as-a-book-character day. All years were allowed to dress up as someone from a book. It could be their favourite character, the character from a book they just read or even the scariest person ever to appear in a story they had read or heard of! In the early morning after everyone had arrived, Year 1 all the way up to Year 6 participated in an extraordinary parade which took place in the sports hall. We showed off our costumes with passion while being in character. There were skeletons to princesses, Goldilocks and her bears to James Bond! This year there was even a cooked breakfast!
In Assembly, a kind poet called John Rice came in. He made us laugh when reading funny poems and singing little songs! We all had workshops with him during this fantastic day. Everyone learned a lot! Year six learned how to write a special kind of rhyming poem and how to up level our writing pieces.
Every year group in the school read a book called ‘The Secret Sky Garden’ and did a variety of activities which were based on it. Year six wrote stories based on different emotions for their Year two buddies.
Everyone enjoyed this day and look forward to more in the future!
