Welcome back Ed Rolfe

On Tuesday 12th September, Lingfield College Alumnus Ed Rolfe came back to give a talk to the Sixth Form on university life, choosing a degree course, and getting the most once you're there.

Ed, currently studying Economics and Politics at Exeter University, was greeted warmly by the students, many of whom wish to emulate his academic success. He duly provided lots of practical advice, ranging from how to make sure you get the grades you need (somehow this sounded better coming from a former student), to making sure to visit all possible university choices to confirm that the glossy brochures are matched in reality.

He also inspired the students by pointing out the massive range of activities universities offer, at subsidised prices. His message of 'do everything you can while you can' clearly chimed with many of our students, who were chattering about it as they returned to registration. Form tutors also came to tell Ed that many students had said they enjoyed the talk immensely.

We are very lucky to have Alumni like Ed, who take the time to come back and talk to our students and offer guidance about future paths; while being under considerable pressure to achieve, he also gave them the message that they can have fun too, whilst making sure the balance and priorities are correct.
