Lingfield shortlisted for Media award
Each year the English and Media Centre's publication Media Magazine run a film competition that is open to all schools in the county. This competition is run in conjunction with the BFI (British Film Institute) and is designed to recognise outstanding production work in the field of film. There are four categories: music videos, trailers, documentaries and short films. From the enormous number of entries each category is narrowed down to a shortlist of finalists who are invited to an awards ceremony at the BFI in London. We were delighted to find out this week that a group of A Level students at Lingfield College had been selected for the short list of the music video category.
The shortlisted film, a music video for the song 'White Noise' by Disclosure, was produced by Year 13 students Rebecca, Lewis, Jordan and Chorlène. Their music video, recently named Best Film 2018 at the Lingfield Oscars Awards, features footage shoot across several continents including America, Asia and Europe. Alongside the exotic locations the students also incorporated a range of stunning visual special effects using industry standard software. Following this production one of the producers, Rebecca, has secured an internship at London based production company, Joint, where she will be furthering her media production skills and entering a career in the media production industry.
We eagerly await the final awards ceremony on 2nd July where the winners will be announced, and the students (and their proud teachers) will get an opportunity to network with industry professionals.
