Harry meets the Prime Minister

As part of the Headmaster’s Sixth Form lecture series, Sam Gyimah, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice and MP for Surrey East, came in to school in the last academic year to talk to the students.

Mr Gyimah offered the chance to gain work experience in the political world to the students and Harry Bull (Year 13) took up the opportunity.

Harry spent two days in Mr Gyimah’s constituency office and his Westminster office, where he gained valuable insight into how MPs work efficiently between their role as a Parliamentarian and as a representative to their constituents on a local level.

After completing his work experience, Harry was delighted to be asked back to do some paid work, but instead he was invited to attend a reception with the Prime Minister in Guildford!  The reception was about the British Government's stance on the on-going Brexit negotiations.

Harry was fortunate enough to not only meet, but have a discussion with the Prime Minister, Mrs May, about the country’s future relationship with the European Court of Justice, shortly before Mrs May  announced the UK's intentions to leave its jurisdiction altogether.

Perhaps this is Harry’s first steps into the politics, who knows he may be on his way to being PM?
