First Aid Training at Lingfield Prep

Last week Year 6 undertook First Aid training from instructor Daniela McInnes during the afternoon.

We learnt amazing life-saving skills such as the recovery position, cardiopulmonary resuscitation commonly known as CPR, how to deal with a person who faints and how to assist someone who is partially choking, whether an object is stuck in their throat or completely blocking their airway.

We also learned about mouth to mouth resuscitation on dummies called Resusci Annie and finally DRABC, which stands for Danger, Response, Airway, Breathing and Circulation.

It was an intense but enjoyable afternoon whilst learning new skills and techniques that we could also use away from school in our private lives.

I personally took away and developed a confidence in delivering first aid through the instructor’s teachings. She provided an informative and realistic demonstration which allowed everyone within the lesson to develop a clear understanding of the requirements to carry out basic First Aid.
