British Physics Olympiad success
Selected Year 13 students recently took part in the British Physics Olympiad. Only the top students in the country are entered and attaining any award is impressive. The Olympiad is to encourage the study of physics and to recognise excellence in young physicists through ten annual physics competitions.
Congratulations and well done to the following students who won awards!
Sophia - Gold
Jacob - Silver
Christopher - Bronze
Taran - Bronze
Year 13 have been producing some fantastic work this year. Head of Physics, Mr Hawley asked them to use their own interests and skills learnt from other subjects to create any form of project on Nuclear Physics, and they didn't disappoint! They produced artwork, presentations, a poem and a website, some of which are shown below.
Cherenkov Radiation
Red Supergiant - An abstract representation of the main sequence stage of a star 10x the mass of the Sun and its effect on the interstellar medium as well as solar winds and the photosphere.
